New T-Shirt Design
Zenshin Daiko will have a new t-shirt for 2002. Members were asked to submit a design to be considered for the t-shirt. The chosen design is by Preston Jones. It shows a child playing a taiko and the outline of the island of Maui. FAQ's About ZD Do you have to be Japanese to play taiko with Zenshin Daiko? No, although most of Zenshin Daiko’s members are of Japanese ancestry, there are members of many different racial backgrounds including; Filipino, Portuguese, Hawaiian, Caucasian, Korean and Chinese. When is Zenshin Daiko’s next taiko festival? Zenshin Daiko’s 3rd Annual Taiko festival will be held on June 29, 2002 at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center’s Castle Theater. This year’s concert will open with Ozzie Kotani - a slack key guitar artist who will play some of his favorite Japanese songs. Zenshin Daiko will perform next and then this year’s featured taiko group, the Sacramento Taiko Dan Children’s Ensemble, will end the show.
